Piled Higher and Deeper

A friend in my study group sent this link to
me. It's actually really hilarious.  Piled Higher and Deeper
(get it: PhD?) is a comic strip all about grad school done by a
guy who got his PhD at Stanford.

Another semester over as of last night.  I'm half way through my
program now *insert big grin here*. Now I have a month in which I
can do whatever I want when I'm not working.  I can actually sit
and do nothing. I can go out to the movies. I can catch up
on my personal reading. I feel like a kid in a candy store.

Stress

I have been really stressed this semester.  Increasing
responsibilities
at work, and 2 classes that require a lot of reading, writing, and
research mean that's pretty much all I do these days: work and school.  As
a matter of fact, right now I should be writing a paper I have due
tomorrow, or working on 1 of 2 research papers due in a few weeks, or
catching up on some work that I didn't get finished on Friday.  And
even if I wasn't doing that I could be cleaning the apartment, going
grocery shopping, or figuring out last minute details for Thanksgiving
which I am hosting this year! Yikes!

I started journaling again
because I realized I needed an outlet.  I have always been the kind of
person that tries to do entirely too many things.  I think it's genetic
(hi Dad!).  But I'm hopeful that this journal will help me remember to
take a few minutes out of my crazy days, relax, and de-stress.  So far, so
good.
